Mudbrick House Project

In December 2007 a new Project to teach the construct of mud houses, was commenced.
Peter Hickson from Ausralia volenteered his time and great knowlege to come and teach both
 Higaonon Tribal people and farmers the art of building safely with mud.
 

 

Building A Mudbrick House - Gallery 1

The first house was made using mud bricks that had been made the previous year.  A concrete slab was laid and mud mortar for the mud brick laying. The upstairs was made from Cocolumber nipa Palm and Bamboo.

The second house was constructed using the cob method. All materials were sourced on the land. Rock foundations, bamboo for strength in walls, a cougan grass roof and a mud floor. A great native hut where material costs were minimal.
